How to connect multiple computers to a broadband Internet connection

Broadband Internet connection or high speed is what most users use at home. Along with high-speed Internet, many users can also use a router to allow multiple computers to connect to the Internet. This document describes how a router used to connect multiple computers. To make it easier to understand, I, in which this comparison, how to live your Internet-connected computer.

What is an IP address?

Broadband Satellite Internet

IP addresses are a series of numbers inForm: nnn, where nnn is a number of 1-3 digits. An IP address is unique for each computer on a network, just like your house has a unique address. For a connection to the Internet has an IP address from your Internet service provider (ISP) delivered. In some cases, the ISP will give you more than one IP address, which you can connect to multiple computers. As discussed below, but you can still more computers with a single IP addressAddress.

Connecting a single computer

Connecting a single computer for your high-speed Internet very easy to do. Simply connect a network cable into your modem, and then the network card in your computer. The computer will then be assigned an IP address from your ISP. For example, if the provider has been assigned the IP address 24.24.50.17, then the computer has the IP address.

If you make a request to a server, such as a website, learn about Web servers,The IP address of the request. The information is then sent via the Internet and back to your computer. This is comparable, if someone sends you e-mail to your home. The address on the mail you back home and not elsewhere.

Connecting multiple computers

How can multiple computers are connected, even an address assigned? If you make a request for a web page, as it aims to know which computer asked for what page? Take our home analogy a stepfurther. Let's say that instead of living in a house that you live in an apartment. If you receive mail, not only address but also a dish. This number is located inside your home and each apartment has its own number. Similarly, more than one computer connected to the Internet, though each had its own unique local IP address. This can be managed by a router.

A router is a piece of hardware that directly to the modem. Each computeris then connected to the router, instead of the modem. Now, instead of the computer with the IP address from your ISP, the router is now that the IP address assigned. This is similar to the router as a residence.

The beauty of a router that assign their own local IP addresses. If you have a computer connected to the router now receives an IP address assigned by the router, as each apartment has its own number. Well, if you have a brandRequest for a Web page, the request sent from the same IP address, but this time is assigned to the router. If the Web page is returned, the router receives the request and sends it locally on your computer, the page requested.

The router also has its own local address, which is similar to the IP addresses of local computers. So now the router has assigned two addresses: external contact and a local ISP provided. This allows the routerThe connection to the Internet and local network.

Note: The address 192.168.xxx.xxx are special IP addresses for LAN (local area).

Managing a Web or FTP server on the network

Let's take a look at this scenario. Do you have a router connecting multiple computers to the Internet. But now you want to create a Web or FTP server. No problem. To set the required software on a computer network, said someone outside the local network IP addressYour FTP server and try to combine them. Then they discover that they can not connect. Why? His mailing something someone like you simply stating your home number and no address.

The IP address of your computer on the network. You can connect to computers on the network, but not from the Internet. You must use your ISP assigned IP address (assigned to the router) to have someone from the Internet to connect to the FTP server. The problem is that the router has assigned that IP and not the computer as an IP address must be unique, as can two computers have the same IP? The answer: it is not possible, but do not.

The routers have the ability to retrieve information about a connection to a specific computer to transmit. A port is a channel number, the data can be sent over a network. You can not physically see, as it is a widely used virtual channel networking solutions for sending / receiving data. For FTP serversDefault port is 21, but another port can be used.

Open the router configuration and look for the port forwarding option. Enter the internal IP address of the FTP server and the port number and then save this information. Now, if a user access to the FTP site, have the ISP IP address that is assigned to the router. The router then realize that the data sent to port 21 and then guides them to the FTP server automatically. A web server can be configured the sameGone, but the default port is 80, in general,

Note: By default, a router connected to dynamic IP addresses to computers. This means that the first computer is connected to the router, the first IP address available to receive, and the next is to get the second, and so on. If you manage an FTP server, it can be easier to assign a static IP address to the computer to make sure that the FTP server is always the same IP address.

This article discussed how to connect one ormore computers sharing an Internet connection. It 'important to note the following:

If you connect a computer directly to the modem, so that the computer's IP address assigned by your ISP. When using a router, the router's IP address is assigned by your ISP. Each computer is connected to the router has a local address assigned by the router. A router is the IP address of the ISP and a local IP address. This allows both the connection to the Internetand network. When you set up a computer such as FTP, Web or other servers to communicate over the Internet, it is important to use the IP address of the router to access the server. You then have the necessary port forwarding on your server.

Com boom began, many understand the power of the Web sites and the general concept of surfing the Internet. Of course, if you download music were available to all media industries began on the internet in a different light to see as a major and then as an incredible market potential.

The next logical step for sound and musicvideos and movies and of course all the major television networks and diligently began to explore various options. Of course, how they moved, so they have small independent producers, the creation of small television stations, in almost all major regions of the world. This is by far the most important development that the media has experienced since its inception. For the first time someone is able to reach millions of people simply use a web cam.

Broadband Satellite Internet

There is no doubt. MoreTV stations of success on the Internet will be those with the best content and the odds are that the usual suspects, labeled and owned by large companies, is still the great player and most of the audience on their sites. Availability Satellite Internet is better than ever

With broadband services and businesses more attention than before, and with a higher percentage of the total population to access and use of broadband Internet from their homes, offices, libraries and on the move, it is evident that competition is and remains very keen on this market. Broadband providers have really been able to steer their services and products to stay ahead of the market, and that means, and offers faster downloadsUpload speed as well as the availability and accessibility is more than ever. While improving certain types of broadband access in the position, the results of these two accounts, others can not, such as cable, which has been easy, despite the situation, always offering a fast connection and Web When bad to improve the availability and accessibility.

Satellite Internet, however, is the king of the increasing availability and accessibility, while providingpositive results on the front Mbps The first question, it is quite difficult for other types of broadband providers to compete with satellite Internet, because the industry will automatically turn off a huge advantage. While other large-bandwidth-intensive industries struggle to expand its reach only (whether or not wireless), satellite providers have automatically the best part of the planet's surface, captured in its area of supply! So while cable providers, forSun struggling to expand its service availability outside of their urban and suburban centers (this is where I always was), satellite internet companies about their broadband connections are available from the poles and from the middle of the sea, something quite different working groups, if you think about it. It is a logical explanation for this immense natural Availability: satellite transceivers are hundreds if not thousands of miles high in the sky, and theirField of view, so to speak, is good enough to give access to most everyone on the planet, and certainly almost all of the United States, for example.

Broadband Satellite Internet

This availability is an important point of pride in astronomical satellite internet, but it is not the only one. Speed is also something that they're working hard, and results are very encouraging results in recent years, shattering the myth that only provides a cable broadband is real experience was gained.Satellite internet providers have doubled, tripled and quadrupled their connection speeds up to 5 Mbps speed that few Internet users have actually also a necessity. To think that only a decade ago, satellite providers, but only 200-300 kbps speed, has just made the case to give up dial-up offer! And those improvements are not the only, or as satellite companies have already developed quite user friendly and useful to mobile devices, allowing users to stay connectedNo matter where in a vehicle or on foot, to go, both on land and in water. It 'just another way to get the upper hand in the competition for the satellite broadband customer loyalty.

Broadband Satellite Internet

Once you have decided to go with satellite internet, you need to make some decisions. If you are trying to decide, to choose what kind of satellite plan, you must consider the costs and the amount of bandwidth used. Unlike other types of broadband Internet, satellite Internet bandwidth caps, which can be used in a given period.

Downloading large files such as video may not be possible without the cap. You may need to buy a planewith a larger cap, if you download lots of large files. If you go over your limit is your Internet connection speed for a certain period of lowering the speed of navigation is that you get with dialup.

Plans of the Internet at home can include as part of a package that satellite TV and radio would be pooled. Business users need more bandwidth than users at home, instead of a bundled package of services. For this reason, it is satellite internet packages have been designedspecifically for business use, with a check for more bandwidth, which can be scaled as needed.

Another important aspect is particularly important for entrepreneurs upload speed. This is an area where this type of Internet can not be compared to other types of high-speed Internet. So if you need to load large amounts of data to a site with some frequency, note the limitations of satellite Internet.

Satellite Internet is for people to have access to essentialMobile Internet. If you are a, boat or RV on the street just a lot, you should place a plan view of the mobile Internet. Access to the Internet is activated with a portable briefcase-sized device. The only drawback is that this type of broadband Internet is expensive.

There are plenty of reasons to choose satellite internet access if you do not have access to DSL or cable. And if you stay in touch while you're away, this kind of internet is the only choice!

The History of Broadband Internet

The history of broadband is the story of the global network called the Internet. It all began in 1950 when the U.S. military was looking for ways to create a working network to improve communication between the segments. All the ARPANET project in 1960 under the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, or DARPA. Only one group of researchers led by Steve Crocker has developed a TCP / IP in 1970 after the Internet was born.

Earlier this networkhas been developed for universities and research institutes to facilitate the rapid transmission of data on earth. In 1980 the Internet was opened to the public, but without the real possibility for an average user to access it. As dial-up, the real progress of the Internet was born begun. This allowed users to connect at home, but had two main problems - it was very slow and requires a dedicated line. Dial-up has been further developed and there was a 56 Kbps rate during 1990But it was not enough to quench your thirst public. It was not until the end of 1990, broadband connections has appeared on the scene and led to the development of the Internet and related services to the next level.

Broadband Satellite Internet

Broadband Internet was very expensive in the beginning and not as fast as it is today. But slowly, as competition grew and the ISP has grown with the expansion of the prices fell up to broadband was affordable for the average user. Every day new solutions came out - ADSL, cable,Satellite, wireless, etc. There are two major types of broadband connection, which were particularly interesting for the average user to detail - ADSL and cable, both with existing infrastructure. ADSL phone line without interfering with telephone and cable internet use CATV infrastructure. Both compounds proved to be very stable, fast, reliable and much cheaper and easier to use. On the other hand, satellite and wireless connections becomeattractive to people in rural or remote areas beyond the reach of broadband ADSL and cable.

Today, broadband Internet is a part of our daily lives. We use it to work, at home and at work. We use it on your PC, mobile phones, laptops or PDAs. We use it for business or pleasure, for collecting or sending information, etc. Broadband internet has also helped the economy, as was shown countless job opportunities and services online. Satellite Internet - The pros and cons

The arrival of satellite internet broadband has meant that hundreds of thousands of people now have access to high-speed Internet. Previously, people in rural and remote dial-up only to fall, such as cable and DSL connections are simply outrageous lines have yet to reach across the country. DSL connections also depend on proximity to the central service provider as far as that from this center, the less reliable the connection. Dial-upremains one of the prevailing modes of Internet access for many rural residents are at home, but their inertia and the growing need of the Internet made many reconsider. They are now looking for satellite internet. As with any Internet connection, there are a number of negatives and positives of this service. Here is a look at the pros and cons of satellite broadband.

The disadvantages

Broadband Satellite Internet

Download limit / bandwidth cap: There are some internet satelliteCompanies that do not limit the amount of bandwidth you can use. This means that if you plan to download large amounts of multimedia files, some internet companies satellite can not be the best choice. However, having said that, you will be able to much more than just download it on dial-up because of the speed.

Network latency: Because satellite broadband satellite and include this path thousands of miles above Earth, in space, there is a problem known as latency. Latency isto do with the interval since a signal from the computer at a time received and processed are sent from the satellite will occur. For gamers and those who use the Internet for video conferencing, satellite Internet may not be ideal. Different game requires players to react quickly to the actions of their colleagues, so that the synchronization and communication is crucial. Playing with a latency of less than a second, normal play is interrupted. Here too, there have beenand still many improvements to latency, and will soon be irrelevant.

Weather: The service can be hit by violent storms. Wind and rain can affect performance significantly, as with satellite TV. However, recent improvements have made, such as satellite providers use different frequencies that are less sensitive or even independent of weather conditions, before using the Internet in the KU band satellite frequencies, this is gradually changing, as technology continues toupgrade.

The Pros

Satellite internet is infinitely faster than dial up. Despite issues with latency and weather, it beats dial-up by far in terms of ease of access, speed, and even affordability. It's also available everywhere that has a view of the southern sky. And that's truly anywhere in the world. Satellite internet can be had in the Amazon jungle, in the Mongolian desert, and even on top of Mount Everest. Its ubiquity means that those who live in more remote areas don't have must still be blocked by the latest technologies. What other improvements in technology mean that soon the latency and time do not even have questions.

Differences between dial-up, cable, DSL, wireless and satellite internet

The Internet market is growing rapidly in various services and options. The right decision in terms of Internet service for your home or office can be a complicated process. Since many Internet users are not technology information specialist, can be very confusing to search for all available services, like Dial-up, cable, DSL, satellite Internet access and compare. It 'important to understand before each service, how it works, and thenmake a selection that best suit your style.

Dial-up was a popular choice among users in 1990, mainly because he was one of the few options. It connects to the Internet through the phone line. It is a popular choice for those outside the service area of cable or DSL. It 'a reliable, since it connects via the telephone line, but it can also be an uncomfortable one. Why use a phone line at home, this means that every time youto go online, the phone is busy. Those who seek to be on your telephone line contact situation with you, if you use the Internet. Recently, many people have decided to stop their phone line at home as a way to save money in these times of economic crisis. Mobile phones are used by many, that a private phone line seems redundant. Therefore, for those who get the Internet through dial-up for more money to provide a phone number, home to spend.

Broadband Satellite Internet

AAlternative to dial-up service for people who are outside, DSL or cable Internet service, the satellite companies. This allows a fast Internet service without having to use a telephone line. Another added feature is that the satellites can be used for other Internet connection, so you do not have to wait to 'line' for the Internet service. As long as you have enough space for a small satellite dish can accommodate, you can also get a fast reliable service to the Internet. With speeds of up to two or three timesfaster than dial-up satellite is the smart choice for rural areas.

As dial-up Internet services via satellite for the popular rural area, DSL and cable are the ring of choice for cities all over the country. EiA3 :: Walking The Holland Track (3 of 9) 'Leaving Civilization'

EiA3 :: Walking The Holland Track (3 of 9) 'Leaving Civilization' Tube. Duration : 8.28 Mins.

EiA3 was the third walk as part of the 'Education in Action' project. Two of us retraced John Holland's track (we slightly extended it to 616km) from Broomehill to Kalgoorlie, Western Australia on foot and unassisted, pulling our food, water and gear in custom made carts. Normally a 4x4 track, we suspect this may be the first retracing of it on foot in modern times (haven't been able to find any contrary evidence as yet). Making the journey particularly interesting was the fact that we were internet ready, thanks to the help of BGAN satellite broadband technology and large cart-mounted solar panels which recharged our batteries. This enabled us to update our progress every night via Google Maps, and send emails to friends and family, as well as groups of school children back in Perth who were following our progress online. Furthermore, the use of Skype actually allowed us to LIVE teleconference directly to the classroom, answering student's questions and giving them a direct link to 'real life in the Australian outback'. The teddy bears that feature in the videos were actually from Pre-Primary students' class. These children had been following the progress of the walk very simply 'through ted's eyes'. Our website www.eia.net.au is being rebuilt at the time of writing this, but we hope to have it back online soon, packed with photos and information about the history, geography, botany and any other interesting details about this exciting area of Western Australia. A side ...
